Gary R. Hudes, MD
Gary R. Hudes, MD, is Director of the Genitourinary Malignancies Program and Member of the Division of Medical Sciences at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, where he is also Attending Physician.
Dr Hudes received his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, College of Medicine, Brooklyn, and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in hematology/medical oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia.
Dr Hudes is an internationally recognized expert in genitourinary malignancies and has conducted extensive research in prostate cancer. He serves as the coinvestigator for a group that is examining the impact of rising prostate-specific antigen levels on treatment decisions in prostate cancer survivors, as well as their effect on quality of life for survivors and their spouses. In the past, he has conducted research in prostate cancer treatments, including antimicrotubule therapy, estramustine, and the impact of β-tubulin expression on clinical resistance to antimicrotubule therapy. Dr Hudes has also examined predictors of toxicity and response to cancer treatment.

Robert J. Motzer, MD
Robert J. Motzer, MD, is Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Additionally, Dr Motzer is Attending Physician in the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology at Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases and Member of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, both in New York City.
Dr Motzer received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, and completed a residency in internal medicine at Cornell University Medical College, Affiliated Hospitals of North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, New York, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He completed fellowships in medical oncology/hematology and research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and in medicine at Cornell University Medical Center.
A genitourinary medical oncologist, Dr Motzer focuses on testicular and kidney cancers. He is the leading researcher for a multisite clinical trial of high-dose chemotherapy for patients with germ-cell tumors and a poor prognosis. Dr Motzer also conducts trials of paclitaxel in patients with relapsing or nonresponsive testicular cancer and of new immunotherapy and chemotherapy drugs for treatment of kidney cancer.

Robert A. Figlin, MD,
FACP, is interim director of City of
Hope's Comprehensive Cancer Center,
where he also serves as associate
director for clinical research. In
addition, Dr Figlin is the Arthur
and Rosalie Kaplan Professor of
Medical Oncology and chair of the
Department of Medical Oncology &
Therapeutics Research.
A nationally
recognized leader in genitourinary
and thoracic oncology, Dr Figlin
focuses his research on renal cell
carcinoma and thoracic malignancies.
He established and directs the
Kidney Cancer Program at City of
Hope,
which aims to
understand the biology of kidney
cancer and translate that knowledge
into new treatments. His leadership
in developing novel anticancer drugs
that avoid the toxicity associated
with standard treatments furthers

Prior to
joining City of Hope, Dr Figlin
served as the Henry Alvin and Carrie
L. Meinhardt Chair in Urologic
Oncology and professor of medicine
and urology in the divisions of
Hematology/Oncology and Urologic
Oncology at the David Geffen School
of Medicine at UCLA. He joined the
UCLA faculty in 1982 as assistant
professor of medicine in the
Division of Hematology/Oncology and
was appointed co-director of the
Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer
Center’s oncology program in 1993.
Dr Figlin also held the post of
medical director of the Thoracic and
Genitourinary Oncology Program in
the departments of Medicine, Surgery
and Urology, and served as program
director of Solid Tumor Development
Therapeutics within the cancer
center.
Dr Figlin serves as
editor for the Kidney Cancer
Journal, and his studies have
appeared in Clinical Cancer
Research, the Journal of
Clinical Oncology, New
England Journal of Medicine,
Lancet, and the Journal of
Urology, among others. After
receiving his medical degree from
the Medical College of Pennsylvania,
he completed his residency in
internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai
Medical Center and a fellowship in
hematology/oncology at the David
Geffen School of Medicine. He is
board-certified in medical oncology
and internal medicine.
